Advantech Announces Intelligent Temperature Data Logger

LOGpen-10 is a cost effective and smart temperature data logger. Its pen-shaped design is robust, convenient to carry and easy to install anywhere to measure and record temperatures. LOGpen-10 connects to a PC through an RS-232 serial port. Configuration of LOGpen-10 and downloading its data to your computer is easily accomplished using the bundled software utility. LOGpen-10 features outstanding resistance to water, shock and corrosion and can thus be used in a wide variety of applications.

Full-featured and Easy to Use

The LOGpen-10 data logger can record 4000 samples (expandable up to 8000 samples, upon user's request) with a sampling period ranging from 1 second to 18 hours. It measures temperatures from -40°C to 80°C with an accuracy of ??C throughout the whole range. An internal clock allows users to preset a recording start time. To deal with situations where the data logger's memory capacity is reached, users can set the LOGpen-10 to either overwrite the earliest data (cyclic recording) or stop re-cording measurements. The non-vola-tile memory can keep all data, even during power failure or battery removal.

Smart Indicator

Users can set a high and/or low temperature limit. Once these limits are set, the user can tell at one glance whether LOGpen-10 is operating and whether the temperature has strayed outside its preset range. A green LED blinking every 3 seconds indicates normal operation. A red LED blinking every 3 seconds indicates that a temperature be-yond alarm limits was recorded. No light means either that operation has been suspended or that the battery has failed. Users can therefore identify abnormal temperatures at a glance without downloading data to a PC.

Innovative Pen-shaped Design

The elegant pen-shaped housing is made of stainless steel and brass, and is chromium plated to provide excellent heat conductivity. It is easy o insert into any location to record temperature. The screw caps can be easily removed for connection to a PC or for replacement of the battery.

Easy-to-Use Software Utility

An easy-to-use software utility is de-livered with LOGpen-10 (full package only). This utility performs following functions:

Sets LOGpen's time clock;
Sets time to start logging temperatures;
Sets high and low alarm limits;
Sets logging period and mode (cyclic or stop at memory full);
Sets LOGpen labels for easy identification;
Downloads data from LOGpen;
Views down-loaded data, including trend chart;
Prints data or chart.

Ordering Information

The LOGpen-10 is CE approved and meets CISPR 22 class B standards. It will be ready for shipment in middle May, 1999. Two different packages will be available: the LOGpen-10S, which is the full package including LOGpen-10 logger, utility disk, cable and manual; and the LOGpen-10B, which contains the logger only.
