Leads Industrial Automation into
the Web Era During the ADVANTECH
"eAutomation with Global Partners Conference"
ADVANTECH Identifies Trends
for the Industry, Announces 2003 IPO
|
CINCINNATI, Ohio, U.S.A. - August 2000 - ADVANTECH announced several
new partnerships at its "eAutomation with Global Partners Conference"
held July 20 - 22 in Cincinnati, Ohio, U.S.A. that will lead the
industrial automation industry into the millennium. This Taiwan-based
corporation, which boasts more than 1,000 employees in more than
10 countries, has introduced itself as a leader in a new era in
automation - web-enabled solutions.
ADVANTECH identified the future of the industrial automation industry
and discussed how the company is evolving its business practices
to proactively match these trends.
"Web technologies will dominate the industrial factory floors
as it has happened in offices and homes. The Ethernet will become
the most popular standard of industrial field bus," said KC Liu,
chairman and CEO of ADVANTECH. "Lots of front-end devices will
be equipped with embedded CPU and web browser functions and due
to the Internet revolution, there will be a reshuffling of key
players."
ADVANTECH's
new focus will be ADVANTECH Automation Corporation. This company,
which announced plans for a NASDAQ IPO in 2003 with an expected
$1 billion market capital, will continue to develop strategic
alliances and partnerships to penetrate the automation market
share. To accomplish this eAutomation trend, products and solutions
will be developed under one of ADVANTECH's clearly defined automation
markets - HMI and IPC Division, Measurement and Control Division,
and Web and Communications Division.
Combining Taiwan's hardware
engineering and manufacturing efficiency with the U.S.A.'s and
Europe's application innovation and technologies, ADVANTECH will
utilize resources from all of its offices, partnerships and ventures
across the globe to bring web-enabled eAutomation solutions to
the factory floor.
Leading ADVANTECH to this level will be Alex Lin, previously ADVANTECH's
Managing Director of the Industrial Automation Group, who was
promoted to President of ADVANTECH Automation Corporation during
the conference. ADVANTECH announced also that PCS Computer, Inc.
(Cincinnati, Ohio, U.S.A.) will become a subsidiary that will
allow ADVANTECH to further leverage its Human Machine Interface
(HMI) Heavy Machine Industry and outdoor use products and solutions.
Alliances and partnerships were also formed with companies such
as b2d, InduSoft, KW Software and MDSI to increase the capabilities
of ADVANTECH through enhancing SolutionPaks such as WebOIT and
the Softlogic Controller; and products such as the Khameleon.
ADVANTECH plans to announce more of these types of partnerships
to continue increasing its eAutomation solutions later this year.

new initiatives and produce integrated solutions by expanding its
SCADA and HMI products. ADVANTECH will create SolutionPAKs for IPPC,
AWS and the Softlogic Controller products that will use InduSoft's
Studio SCADA and InduSoft WEB Studio packages.
InduSoft uses this same type of development environment as the ADVANTECH

as the Studio SCADA and the Web Studio packages. Combining these
packages into ADVANTECH's SolutionPaks takes this convenience one
step further.

Product Summary
WebOIT
Using the Web-enabled Operator Interface Terminal (WebOIT) launch
as a springboard, ADVANTECH Automation Corporation is taking steps
to become the leader in integrated web communication technology.
ADVANTECH, through their Partner Program, announced that they would
introduce a series of eAutomation products before the end of 2000.
This series of products will complete the vertical link from the
plant floor to the enterprise level and beyond.
The premiere eAutomation product, WebOIT, will revolutionize operator
panel applications by allowing PLC data and control access from
anywhere in the plant or even the world via the Internet, something
that was previously available only at the operator terminal. The
WebOIT comes with everything customers need to get to work and get
connected; and is an all-in-one, ready-to-run solution for operator
panel needs.
Softlogic
Controller
ADVANTECH has chosen specially selected Channel Partners for distribution
of the ADVANTECH Softlogic Controller SolutionPAK.
ADVANTECH is taking the Softlogic Controller to the next level by
increasing the distribution outlets of this product. More companies
can now focus on developing applications rather than integrating
systems with this all-in-one, ready-to-run solution for PC-based
machine or process automation requirements.
Khameleon
ADVANTECH has increased capabilities of its new Khameleon (CPM-1500TV)
Flat Panel Monitor by offering it with the Microbox. The combination
of these two products is ideal for applications for machine control
or CRT retrofit, and users can take advantage of the creation of
specialized PC systems and the ability to change the touch pattern
for each application. The Microbox allows users to conserve space
and still use innovative technology.
Just like the chameleon changes color according to its ambient environment,
the ADVANTECH Khameleon (CPM-1500TV) has the ability to change its
touch pattern for different applications. It is an industrial flat
panel monitor with 15" TFT LCD display and 20.1" touchscreen. Utilities
are provided outside the rim of the LCD, allowing users to program
the touch button easily. |
