Advantech Empower New PC/104 Communication Value with Shared IRQ Capability

Advantech introduced its new PC/104-compatible communication module with four individually configurable RS-232 ports, PCM-3641. Targeted at embedded system customers with a need for high-speed and shared IRQ ports, high -performance PCM-3641 is especially suitable for multitasking environments.

The PCM-3641 provides versatile function settings to meet users needs. These function settings include Standard/Enhance setting, Independent/Shared IRQ setting and Speed setting. Standard/Enhance setting can help users to use base address more flexible. Especially in Enhance setting, different base addresses can be set according to the application. In Shared IRQ setting, all four ports of interrupt can be specified to one. This solves problems of IRQ insufficiency within the embedded system. In Speed setting, the PCM-3641 allows transmission rate up to 921.6 kbps. It improves the performance of the system.

The PCM-3641 also comes with a Windows 95/98/NT/ME configuration utility, DOS driver and a serial communication library called PC-ComLIB. The Windows configuration utility provides self-diagnostics and performance analysis function for easy troubleshooting and debugging. PC-ComLIB supports most common languages, including C, Pascal, Basic, assembly and Clipper. Thus, programming with this library is easier.
