 Advantech's
Embedded Computing Group is introducing a new 3.5" (145 mm x 102
mm) Transmeta® Crusoe 500 MHz processor Single Board Computer
to its line. The low-power, high performance mobility offered
by the fanless, Transmeta® Crusoe™ TM5400 processor, 64 MB memory
on board combined with outstanding multimedia capability and PC/104-Plus
support, make the PCM-9370 a powerful performer able to drive
the newest, most dynamic applications.
Teamed with a SMI Lynx 721 LCD/CRT controller, the PCM-9370's
Crusoe TM5400's integrated Northbridge core logic and onboard
VIA VT82C686A Southbridge chipset, provide great all-around graphics
support. There is also an optional PCM-231AV module that provides
both audio and TV-out connectivity for the PCM-9370. This module
allows AC97 3D surround stereo sound and supports speaker out,
CD-input, Line-in, Line-out and microphone. Also with this optional
audio/TV-out module are TV-out connectors and S-Video connectors,
which support NSTC and PAL formats. Advantech gave the PCM-9370
the multimedia power to handle most application needs.
Adding
Value with Technical Innovation
Based on an advanced VLIW core architecture, the Crusoe™ TM5400
with 64K L1 and 256 KB on-processor second level cache memory
can provide x86 compatibility by utilizing x86 Code Morphing™
software. The PCM-9370 provides two SODIMM slots, the first SODIMM
has 64 MB DRAM on board, 16 MB is reserved for the x86 code morphing
software the Transmeta processor utilizes, the other 48 MB is
additional memory space. The second SODIMM slot can be used for
an additional 32 MB to 256 MB expansion. The Crusoe processor
is one of the leading energy efficient high-performance x86-compatible
mobile solutions on the market today and is finally receiving
hard earned acceptance from the embedded community. The PC/104-Plus
connectors add tremendous value to the PCM-9370. With the PCM-9370's
PC/104-Plus socket, multiple high-speed PCI sockets are always
available as is the increased flexibility and cost savings of
being able to use off-the-shelf add-on PC/104 modules. For example,
by simply adding a PC/104-Plus dual Ethernet module like the PCM-3663
Ethernet module, two additional LAN ports can easily be added.
This PC/104-plus capability helps with product development, speeds
up time to market and greatly expands the overall functionality
of this SBC.
Advantech's
Solutions Make It Possible
The
PCM-9370 has all the features you might not even find on CPU boards
twice this size. An Intel 82559ER PCI 10/100 Mbps IEEE802.3u protocol
compatible Ethernet controller is also available. 62 level jumperless
watchdog timer support is available as is support for two IDE
UltraDMA 33 mode up to 33 MB/sec, two FDD device interfaces are
supplied as well. There are two 1.1 compliant USB ports and a
mini-din connector for keyboard and PS/2 mouse support.
