New
ADAM OPC Server and Modbus RTU OPC Server for Windows NT/CE are
Ready to Ship
Advantech IAG S/W team has released the new ADAM OPC server and
Modbus OPC server for Windows NT and Windows CE platforms, which
are ready for shipment in April. These new OPC servers are developed
by ICONICS OPC Toolkit version 2.0 and are compliant with the
OPC specification 2.0. The new ADAM OPC server and Modbus RTU
OPC server are so easy to use that you need only to configure
the Device, Group and Tag settings of your device I/O to monitor
their current values. There is also an OPC Client application
-"OPC Browser", which allows you to monitor all real-time device
I/O data from any OPC server. You can also download the same
OPC server configuration to a Windows CE device to monitor real-time
device I/O data. Besides, you don't have to use other tools or
development applications for Windows CE device I/O connection
and monitoring. ADAM OPC server and Modbus OPC server for Windows
CE are bundled with a HMI-640S-GNI Windows HMI platform.

The new ADAM OPC server version 2.0 supports not only the ADAM-4000
and ADAM-5000/485 modules, but also the ADAM-5000/E 8-slot I/O
distributed DA&C module and ADAM-5080 4-channel Counter/Frequency
module are newly added to its hardware supporting list. The Modbus
RTU OPC server supports I/O devices that are compatible with Modbus
RTU protocol, and is well tested with the ADAM-5511 PC-based Programmable
Modbus Controller.
The key features of new the ADAM OPC server and Modbus OPC server
are listed as below:
- Advanced OPC data quality and data conversion for client's request
- Support multi-drop ADAM-4000 and ADAM-5000/485 I/O devices
- Utilize the concept of Groups for easy configuration and manageability
- Support all popular PLC data types, such as WORD, LONG, FLOAT,
INT
- Internally Simulated for configuration and testing
- Tag Multiplier lets you create hundreds of tags in seconds
- OPC Sample Client for rapid testing of your OPC data connections
- GUI interface for viewing devices, tags, groups, and real-time
signals
- Full online help and documentation
- Online configuration of Devices, Groups and Tags
- Flexible raw and engineering units and signal scaling
The part number of ADAM OPC
server is "PCLS-OPC/ADM" and the part number of Modbus OPC server
is "PCLS-OPC/MOD". These two OPC servers are scheduled to ship
at the end of April, 2000.
Note: The ADAM OPC server
version 1.0, developed by Intellution OPC Toolkit, would be phased
out and replaced by the ADAM OPC server version 2.0. We will continue
to support the ADAM OPC server version 1.0 until July of 2000.
