Advantech IAG in Taipei Automat 2000

TAIPEI AUTOMAT 2000 Exhibition, held thru May 9 to May 13, has been a biennial major exhibition in Taiwan for Advantech IAG to stage its new products and industry vision. This time, with no exception, we have continued our past practice to present our vision for the future as the major subject of our exhibition.

With the booming growth of Internet and web technology, nothing seems more appropriate than taking the always evolving subject of "Web-enabled automation" as our major focus for the years to come. This is exactly our vision for the new Millenium and we dubbed it "eAutomation". With the preceding "e" word, it catches the on-going trend everywhere in the world, and also states our determined steps in bringing the best Web technologies into industrial automation.

Under the grand subject of eAutomation, we laid out five supporting themes in Advantech's booth, namely Automation Solution with 3C Products, Web-enabled Solution, Classic Value Product Zone, e-Store and Live Demo session. During the Exhibition, Advantech also hosted a Seminar to share our vision with visitors and industry people.

Automation Solution integrated by 3C Products mainly focuses on the integrated aspects of Computing (HMI products) and Communication and Control platforms, which is value-added by our comprehensive software support. The theme of Web-enabled technology is illustrated by an architectural diagram, which elucidates our conceptions of Web-enabled technology for OIT/HMI and Web-based factory. Of course, visitors were exposed to our new star products within the Classic Value Product Zone, in which the newly launched Khameleon stole the main show. Its namesake poster featuring a life-size chameleon never fails to attract visitors' attention. Our e-Store section promotes our booming Online Purchase Site, which offers B2B and B2C online shopping for our customers. With full support from Advantech's Corporate Marketing Div., IAG has launched a special promotion program for PCI cards and PPC-100T to encourage Taiwan's customers to buy online. To offer more interactivity between visitors and our booth, we offered twin Live Demo Boards, with the topic entitled "ModBus your Automation, Ethernet your System" for ADAM series product demonstration.

With Web-technology assuming the prime role in automation, we try to impress booth goers with real innovations in the Web-enabled Automation Solution. The Scenario is depicted as: With standard browsers, authorized administrators can monitor the data acquisition system any time, anywhere on any computers whether it is a portable, desktop, workstation or HMI on the field. The Web technology conveys the same "look and feel" on different platforms with no extra client software installed except a standard browser that is ubiquitous on almost every PC today.

The climax of this Exhibition came at a lively and open Seminar with the topic of "Advance your Competitiveness through Automation in the e-Era". These rich presentations from invited speakers gave the audience our thoughts on the exciting prospect of Automation in the Internet era.
