Advantech's Ethernet I/O System--The New Era of eAutomation Solutions

Introduction
Undoubtedly, Ethernet connectivity is becoming a big trend for industrial applications. To satisfy user's requirements, Advantech announces a new DA&C system, the ADAM-5000/TCP, the Ethernet I/O solution for people developing their eAutomation architecture.

The Hardware
By adopting a 32-bit RISC CPU, the ADAM-5000/TCP has greatly advanced data processing and communication abilities. It handles up to 128 I/O points and provides a 10/100 Mbps Ethernet port for users to link to information layer directly without any converter or data exchange server. Basing on real-time O/S, the ADAM-5000/TCP allows eight PCs OR tasks to access its current data simultaneously from anywhere: LAN Intranet or Internet. Meanwhile, a security password protection design was built into the system to avoid the risk of network invasion. For further applications, ADAM-5000/TCP follows the Modbus/TCP protocol, the most popular standard for industrial Ethernet networks, so users can easily integrate with HMI software packages or other APs via Modbus/TCP driver, Modbus/TCP OPC Server, and DLL driver.

Applications
Integrating an ADAM-5000/TCP, the state of the art Ethernet-based DA&C system offers the ability to look down on any level of the manufacturing/utility/facility environment from virtually anywhere in the world. Supports various interfaces
The Advantech WLAN family comes with an assortment of applications. For wireless adapters, the WLAN supports PCMCIA, USB, PCI, PC/104. For Access Points, the WLAN provides wireless router, bridge and repeater functions.

Keep Your Communications Private
The WLAN series guards your wireless network from being tapped through multiple security protection (WEP40 encryption, MAC access control and password security). The multiple security mechanisms work to prevent unauthorized access to both the wired and the wireless network 7

Self-diagnostic function
The WLAN series provides a complete set of diagnostic tools to help you examine the wireless environment before operation. It reduces the labor of building a whole system.
