November
2000-Taipei, Taiwan. Dedicated to providing the best in industrial
automation solutions, Advantech now introduces a brand-new miniature
touch panel computer. The TPC-650 is a 1.7kg (3.7lb) PentiumR
MMX 266 PC with 6.4" VGA TFT/5.7" QVGA STN LCD display. With the
high quality touch screen, the TPC-650 is the best solution for
applications requiring rugged yet convenient human-machine interfaces.
The TPC-650 has two alternative LCD displays: 6.4" TFT LCD with
VGA (640x480) resolution and 300 cd/m2 luminance or
5.7" STN LCD with QVGA (320x240) resolution and 110 cd/m2
luminance. Another amazing feature of the TPC-650 is the fan-less
Pentium MMX kernel. Unlike platforms made with RISC processors,
the TPC-650's x86 kernel is an open and easily expandable structure.
Furthermore, it provides a 16-bit PC/104 expansion slot. A variety
of applications can be developed with the TPC-650 depending on
the programmer's needs.
The TPC-650 utilizes a CompactFlash memory card storage
device instead of damage-prone hard disk drives. Together with
the NEMA4/IP65 compliant front bezel and fan-less feature, the
solid state TPC-650 can endure harsh environments.
Advantech offers Windows CE OS and Windows CE HMI
software packages for end users. A factory option allows users
to choose a TPC-650 with Windows CE OS on the CompactFlash memory
card or Windows CE OS as well as Advantech HMI software integrated
on the CompactFlash memory card. These pre-installed software
environments could facilitate the actual end user applications
or towards developing new application software.
