National
Manufacturing Week is the largest exhibition and conference of
its kind in North America. Just completing its 11th year in 2001,
National Manufacturing Week is North America's premier marketplace
for buyers and sellers of products, services and technologies
that support and integrate all the functions of the manufacturing
process.
As the only conference and exhibition of its kind, National Manufacturing
Week is comprised of the following four interrelated areas:
- National Industrial Enterprise IT
- National Industrial Automation
- National Plant Engineering MRO & Management
- National Design Engineering
With more than 2,000 exhibitors in 575,000 square feet of space,
the event covers everything from design engineering and plant/facility
maintenance and management to factory floor automation and manufacturing
enterprise-wide integration for discrete, process and continuous
improvements. Last year, 55,951 industry professionals made National
Manufacturing Week their one-stop shop for industry-wide products
and services.
National Industrial Automation is the event of choice for
decision-makers seeking the latest in factory floor integration,
instrumentation, control and automation technology. In 2000, it
attracted 18,695 industry professionals, representing the ultimate
in buying power.
- 115,000 net square feet
- 250 exhibiting companies
- Launched in 1992
Advantech Automation had a 20' x 24' booth # 4534, in the
National Industrial Automation section of National Manufacturing
Week, in Chicago, Illinois, USA. Advantech showcased their new "eAutomation
Series" product line, along with their ADAM Communication Modules
and the Industrial Computer / Single Board Computer line.
From ANYTHING to ANYWHERE! Advantech took many new potential
customers as well as various editors from key magazines through
their booth showing off their open architecture "Integrated Web
Server" demonstrating connectivity over the Internet and how the
WebLink and WebOIT can extract data from the plant floor, aggregate
the data in a web server, transform the data into business information,
and distribute this information to appropriate users through a
standard web browser. There was a lot of interest from Equipment
OEM's on how our web products would enhance their service business.
The Ethernet I/O, Wireless LAN, and ADAM Communication Modules
received interest from many that went through our booth as well.
The TPC-1260, with its mix of low-power consumption and cost effectiveness
also received much attention.
ADVANTECH held a press conference on Monday to announce the launch
of the "eAutomation Series" products. Bryan Bailey educated and
entertained the press with his lively presentation style. Many
of the editors stayed afterwards to discuss these products in
depth with the Advantech team.
The message:
ADVANTECH targets legacy PLC users to add functionality
with a cost-effective Web-Enabled connection. ADVANTECH is taking
hold of a new market for web-enabled solutions - companies who
want to bring standard PLCs into the eAutomation Era through an
Internet/Intranet connection without incurring high costs of a
completely new solution.
"Many companies want to become web-enabled, but they cannot purchase
entirely new data acquisition or I/O products. ADVANTECH is providing
these companies with products to connect all of their current
PLCs to the Internet/Intranet for about the same price as purchasing
one new Web data acquisition product. These PLCs are typically
low-powered machines with specific functions," said Alex Lin,
president of ADVANTECH. "ADVANTECH can extend the capabilities
of these PLCs by providing that Web connection."
ADVANTECH's web-enabled PLC solutions provide companies
with several benefits through connecting any PLC to any location.
This complete connection allows users to predict repairs, utilize
remote service technicians to save time, supply real-time production
data, and provide better service and reliability to customers.
These solutions are specifically designed for applications that
require periodic maintenance, need calibration or restocking,
are physically remote or need low-cost access to information.
