Advantech Co. Ltd. continues to expand its product line by introducing an exciting
new low-power 3.5" HDD-size SBC with an on-board 586-level processor and
TV-out capability. Based on the already successful PCM-5820E SBC, the new PCM-5822
has added a powerful state-of-the-art TV-out function that is a cost-effective
solution that provides better signal transmission quality to TV screens over longer
distances than regular LCD displays. These features allow the PCM-5822 to be used
in a multitude of multimedia, mobile or network applications.
Digital PC to TV Encoder is a "Next Generation"
Product
The digital PC to TV encoder on the PCM-5822 is a stand-alone integrated circuit
that accepts a pixel data stream from a compatible VGA controller and converts
it directly into NTSC or PAL TV format, with simultaneous Composite and S-Video
outputs. The encoder also supports 640 x 480 and 800 x 600 input resolutions in
a Windows 95/98 and Windows NT operating environment. This translates into high
quality TV output that has been previously unheard of in small SBCs.
Low Power Consumption & Full-Featured
The PCM-5822 also utilizes a new switching power regulator and low power GXM LV
(GXM-200/2.2V) processor. This allows the PCM-5822 to consume only 8 Watts with
64 MB system memory. Compared to conventional Biscuit PC boards, which normally
consume around 20 W, these power savings contribute to overall efficiency and
help retain fanless operation that is critical in space-restricted applications.
Other on-board features include VGA/LCD, Audio, 10/100Base-T Ethernet and a CompactFlashTM
socket. All these features make the PCM-5822 a small, powerful, full range product
capable of performing well in the most demanding space-critical applications.
Applications might include various mobile and automotive applications, security
and transportation, smart build applications, entertainment, or any function where
video use might be applied on a network-based system.
