 Advantech's
new CompactFlash Memory Card supports a True IDE Mode that is
electrically compatible with an IDE disk drive. This means there
are none of the driver problems common with some of the other
SSD solutions. Advantech's CompactFlash Memory Cards provide up
to 40 MB of formatted storage capacity, and with the PCMCIA Adapter,
can be used in any system that has a PCMCIA Type II or Type III
socket.There are several reasons why the POS-810 is expansion
friendly. First, a PCI/ISA riser card is provided with the case.
This riser card comes with two expansion slots, which can be used
as either two PCI-type slots or as 1 PCI-type and 1 ISA-type slots.
Extra Features
The CompactFlash Memory Card Series uses SanDisk Flash memory
chips which were designed by SanDisk specifically for use in mass
storage applications. In addition to the mass storage-specific
Flash memory chips, the CompactFlash Memory Cards include an on-card
intelligent controller that provides a high level interface to
the host computer to issue commands to the memory card to read
or write blocks of memory. A block of memory consists of 512 bytes
of data and is protected by a powerful Error Correcting Code (ECC).
A Range
of Combinations
Advantech CompactFlash Memory Cards are offered in a variety of
capacities up to 40 MB. The host system can support as many cards
as there are CompactFlash and Type II or Type III PCMCIA card
slots. CompactFlash Memory Cards require the PCMCIA Adapter to
be used in a PCMCIA Type II or Type III socket.
Arriving Soon
Advantech's CompactFlash Cards and PCMCIA Adapters will be available
by July 1998. These, in turn, can be used in conjunction with
Advantech's currently available PCD-1200A and PCA-6351.
