Advantech Launches New Lightweight Ultra Reliable Wireless Servers
 |
Advantech, a leading industrial communication solutions provider, has announced the launch of two new wireless device servers. The EKI-1361 and 1362 are one and two port RS-232/422/485 to 802.11b/g/n WLAN serial device servers ideally suited for use in Automatic Guided Vehicles (AGV).
The EKI-136x have been designed for use in areas where signal strength and reliability may be affected. To counteract these issues these models use MIMO 2x2 technology which transmits two signals simultaneously which ensures greater efficiency by ensuring that they aren’t jammed by other devices and arrive intact.
To further aid reliability the EKI-136x have been designed with a fast roaming design that means that when the AGV moves between access points (AP) and the signal weakens it will quickly switch to a new AP without degrading the data. The speed at which the signal switches depends on the layout of the access points and the configuration of the EKI within the device.
To fit into AGVs and other areas with limited space, the EKI-136x weighs just 800 grams and has a small footprint and provides a range of mounting options and antenna extensions.
In industries other than AGVs, where the EKI is fixed, the models can make peer-to-peer connection without using wireless APs therefore making it cost effective in areas that would otherwise need to have a long wired connection.
