Advantech Launches New Serial Device Servers
with Outstanding Data Transmission

Taipei,
Taiwan - October, 2008 - Advantech's
Industrial Automation Group is preparing
to release the powerful EKI-1528/EKI-1526
Serial Device Servers, which combine a
rugged and reliable design with fast 8/16
x RS-232/422/485 serial ports, 2 x Ethernet
ports and exceptional throughput capabilities.
EKI-1528/EKI-1526 allows RS-232/422/485
serial devices to be remotely monitored,
managed and controlled over Ethernet and
IP networks. EKI-1528/1526 also includes
new features from Advantech for advanced
capability, such as simultaneous Dual-LAN
redundancy, advanced Multi-Access functionality,
supports DHCP/BOOTP communication protocol,
SNMP, email alarm functions, and more.
EKI-1528/1526 has already proven its reliability
and high-speed capabilities during extensive
real-world testing, beating products with
similar specifications in the market,
providing our clients with fast, reliable
and high-end Serial to Ethernet communications.
Maximum
Throughput with Exceptional Data Transmission
Each of the COM ports on the EKI-1528/1526
provides 921K-baud technology with a throughput
up to 1.2 Mbps, fulfilling high data transmission
needs, even when all ports are up and
running.
Simultaneous
Dual-LAN Redundancy
An exclusive new feature for Advantech's
Serial Device Servers is support for simultaneous
connection redundancy. With 2 x Ethernet
ports packed into EKI-1528/1526, users
can establish 2 physical networks, one
for the primary connection, and the other
as a backup host that can connect to the
device servers directly when the primary
connection fails. The 2 Ethernet ports
can also be set to two different networking
domains to support various network applications.
Easy-use
Configuration Interface, SNMP/SNMP Trap
and Email Alarm Functions
EKI-1528/1526 also provides various configuration
interfaces, such as allowing users to
configure the device through web-browser,
Telnet console, serial console or Windows
utility. Advantech also understands that
critical management and notification functions
should use SNMP and SNMP trap so that
they can be monitored and managed by general
SNMP software. EKI-1528/1526 also provides
an email alarm to auto notify users in
the event of an accident or status change.
Advanced
Multi-Access Functionality
EKI-1528/1526 combines various IT operations;
such as COM port redirection, TCP server/client
and UDP mode to fulfill advanced needs.
EKI-1000 series also supports Multi-Access
functionality to provide 5 host connections
for each serial port with broadcast and
polling operations. In broadcast mode,
EKI Serial Device Servers handle a command
from one application and reply to the
data from the serial port to all applications
connected to this serial port. In polling
mode; EKI Serial Device Servers handle
the commands from one application and
reply to this application only. Query
from other applications must be queued
and wait for current process completion.
EKI-1528/1526
has equipped with standard 1U rackmount
size, DIN-rail mount, rear wiring and
AC power (100-240VDC) to suit standard
rack space. The EKI-1528/1526 will be
available in mid-October. Contact your
local Advantech sales representative or
