Advantech Launches New Rugged, Compact & Fast
Ethernet Switches

Taipei, Taiwan – November 2010 – Advantech, a leading industrial communication solutions provider, has introduced a new series of compact Ethernet switches to focus on machine and factory automation applications. This series includes full Gigabit switches (EKI-2728MI, EKI-2748FI, EKI-2748CI) and 10/100M Ethernet switches (EKI-2548I, EKI-2548SI and EKI-2548MI). These switches provide a compact mechanical design able to meet a wide range of communication needs and can help save space as well.

To enhance the connection reliability, EKI-2748 modules are equipped with DMI (Digital Monitoring Interface) that can monitor the parameters status of SFP module, including temperature, voltage, current, Tx power, and Rx power. It will get active alarm and avoid the connection discontinuity while the system operates exceptionally in early stage. To simplify the configuration process and port alarm, EKI-2548 modules features a DIP switch which enables X-Ring Master in the X-Ring group and R-Master LED indicator will light up.

The compact and wide temperature compliant system easily installed in small spaces, such control panel with Ethernet enabled devices and ticket vending machine and gate control in subway station. The compact switches support X-Ring (recovery time <10ms) providing secure data communication, reliability and high-speed network infrastructures.
