The Industrial Automation Group of Advantech has extended its robust TPC product line with the TPC-60SE, a price-cutting 5.7" QVGA TFT LCD touch panel computer. The new model is offered at very a competitive price, but has the same industrial strength, ultra slim design, and light form factor as the previous models in the TPC-60 series.

TThe difference between TPC-60SE and the earlier TPC-60SN is in the LCD panel. The luminance of TPC-60SE's LCD panel has been reduced from 201 to 130 nits, and the contrast ratio from 35 to 25. The viewing angle is also narrowed from 110 to 60°. However, the lower price means a similar price/performance ratio, and TPC-60SE still has all other industrial features like a NEMA4/IP65 compliant front panel, and durability to operate in extreme temperatures.

Like other TPCs in the TPC-60 series, TPC-60SE also uses a low-power, fanless, ARM CPU running at 266 MHz. Designed to run simple applications under Microsoft® Windows® CE .NET, or as a thin-client, it comes equipped with 64 MB flash memory, and a CompactFlash® slot for vibration resistant storage. TPC-60SE has a complete I/O interface that features three serial ports (one full RS-232, one 4-pin RS-232, one RS-485), one Ethernet port (10/100Base-T), two USB ports (one for host, and one for client), and LED indicators for the LAN port.

The combination of the TPC Series with thin client software like Microsoft RDP makes it possible to save costs when implementing interfaces in the field. The TPC-60SE can be used to provide decentralized interfaces to control local as well as external processes.

With the features described above, TPC-60SE is mainly engineered for system control interfaces, such as those found in machine automation, intelligent transport systems (ITS), and food industries, but wherever a long-lasting, small, and reliable interface is needed, this touch panel computer will be welcomed.
