 Advantech's
PCL-818HD has been a very popular multifunction card
for many years, so it is with great expectations that
Advantech now releases its PCI equivalent called PCI
-1718HDU.
PCI-1718HDU
has been designed from scratch to be as compatible as
possible with PCL-818HD, and as a result is form, function
and software compatible.
"Migrating
to PCI-1718HDU from PCL-818HD is practically effortless",
said Peishan Juan, product manager at Advantech. "The
same I/O connector is used so the same cables and accessories
can be used. Programs such as those made in LabVIEW
and ActiveDAQ don't need recompiling, and even the jumper
settings and pin assignments are kept the same. It's
essentially PCL-818HD with a Universal PCI bus".
PCI-1718HDU
is a 12-bit multi-function DAQ card with a universal
PCI interface. It has a flexible configuration for its
analog inputs, 16 single-ended or 8 differential analog
input channels, a 12-bit analog output channel, 16 digital
inputs and 16 digital outputs. Moreover, it also has
a sampling rate up to 100 kS/s with resolution of 12
bits.
PCI-1718HDU
adds more functionality to existing boards like PCLD-782
and PCLD-785. With PCLD-782, you have 16 channels for
isolated digital input functionality. With PCLD-785,
you have 16 channels with relay digital output functionality.
PCI-1718HDU can also work with PCL-12237 to work like
a dual IDC 20 to DB 37 converter. PCI-1718HDU not only
upgrades the existing functions of the board without
any extra wirings and setups, but is also capable of
different forms of transmission. Please refer to the

information.
PCI-1718HDU
has Plug & Play, which makes the upgrade more convenient,
and also features an automatic channel/Gain/SD scanning
circuit that provides multi-channel high-speed sampling
with different gains and SD for each channel. Lastly,
PCI-1718HDU has an onboard FIFO and programmable timer/counter.
This allows for faster data transfers and a programmable
counter.
Although
PCI-1718HDU is ready to order for those who wish to
change to PCI systems, PCL-818HD will still be available.

The
PCL-10137 shielded cable is specially designed for
the PCI-1718HDU card to provide high resistance
to noise. To achieve a better signal quality, the
signal wires are twisted in such a way as to form
a twisted-pair cable, reducing cross-talk and noise
from other signal sources. Furthermore, its analog
and digital lines are separately sheathed and shielded
to neutralize EMI/EMC problems. |

For PCL-818H users, PCL-12237 can transfer the pin-assignment
of PCL-818HD to PCL-818H. The only difference between
PCL-818HD and PCL-818H is the connector. |
