Advantech
has announced a new edition of Advantech Studio, which
is a popular SCADA software application. The new Advantech
Studio version V6.0 provides more features for industrial
automation, the pharmaceutical industry, general process
control, and embedded systems running Microsoft®
Windows® XP, 2000, NT, CE, or CE .NET.
The
major feature of Advantech Studio is its built-in web
server function. It publishes real-time graphic screens,
trends, alarms, reports, and recipes to standard browsers
by intranet or the Internet. This means field equipment
can be remotely monitored via the Internet.
Advantech
Studio V6.0 supports more than 150 communication drivers
for 3rd party devices from different manufacturers such
as Omron®, Allen-Bradley®, Siemens®, and
many more. Industry standards are widely supported with
Microsoft® .NET, OPC, DDE, ODBC, XML, SOAP, and
ActiveX. There is also multi-level security for applications,
including use over Intranet and Internet.
The
new version improves over its predecessor Advantech
Studio V5.1, with multiple display interface (MDI) for
CE runtime and web thin clients. This feature allows
the creation of graphical frames that can be displayed
into separate screens. Advantech Studio V5.1 only supported
this feature for XP runtime. The upgraded version will
extend the support.

Advantech
Studio V6.0 also provides enhancements to its web thin
client support. More types of tags are now supported,
including tags such as indirect tags, array tags, screen
logic (On Open, While Open, On Close), and retentiveness.
The enhanced virtual keypad allows flexible adjustment
to a size that matches the screen size and resolution
of the system, no matter of it is a touch screen, handheld
device, or a custom machine panel.
