Ultra-Rugged Industrial Gigabit Ethernet Switches Entering the Market

Taipei, Taiwan - Advantech's Industrial Automation Group has launched an ultra-rugged new model in their Industrial Ethernet Switch series, the EKI-7659CI. This wide operating temperature 8-port Industrial Ethernet Switch features 2 x Gigabit fiber optic/copper combo ports and supports a wider operating temperature range than most Industrial Ethernet switches, from -40 to 75° C. This model is highly recommended for use in harsh or demanding operating environments.

The EKI-7659CI's 2 Gigabit fiber optic/copper combo ports provide a long-distance uplink that transmits important data up to 110km at Gigabit speeds. EKI-7659CI also supports 2 highly flexible 100/1000M SFP's (mini-GBIC) to accommodate different application or distance needs.

Based on network reliability needs, EKI-7659CI also provides Advantech's fast "X-Ring" architecture; promising redundant ring technology with a recovery time less than 10ms. Furthermore, the EKI-7659CI features the "Dual X-Ring" technology, allowing it to be a hub for an existing X-Ring, so that users need only one switch to link redundant rings, rather than two. Communication between the rings can still operate even if one path fails.

As a Managed Gigabit Ethernet Switch, the EKI-7659CI features advanced management functions, such as IP security, VLAN, QoS, Port Mirroring, MAC Security, IGMP Snooping, Port Trunking, CoS/TOS, Email warning, SNMP Trap, SMTP and more.

EKI-7659CI also comes with an IP30 metal housing and has 3000 VDC surge protection for the power line, plus 4000 VDC ESD protection on the Ethernet ports. Under the rigorous environment condition, the EKI-7659CI is a robust Ethernet switch with wide temperature feature can handle heavy loading.
