Out of the urban mass transit systems in China, Beijing surely is one of the busiest. It contains more than 10 routes and over 200 stations which sustain millions of people everyday. In order for this complicated transit system to work smoothly, the monitoring of its power supply becomes important. Now, in each station, a power substation is being placed in the basement or on the sides of platforms to convert electricity voltage for the use of train from urban power network. Within the power substation, there are electric meters and terminal equipment to monitor power transformers, condition of usage, temperature, pressure and etc. to avoid any break off.
Advantech indicates that it would be difficult for basic computing or internet devices to monitor power substations. The devices need to be qualified in IEC 61850-3 electromagnetic interference shielding certification and IEEE 1613 which proves the internet devices are conformed to environmental regulations. Other than being eligible for these two certificates, the devices must meet the highest regulations established by China Electric Power Research Institute to count as the best computing platform for power substation needs.
Advantech has developed devices which meet the above three standards: Fanless rack mounted Embedded Automation Computers UNO 4672 for meter and related device data collection, Managed Redundant Industrial Ethernet Switch EKI-7656C to upload information to Industrial PC IPPC-6712A for remote management. UNO-4672 contains built-in isolated PSU and 10 isolated serial communication ports, which stably maintains system and blocks electromagnetic interference. Furthermore, Advantech’s Redundant X-ring technology offers the fastest redundant ring recovery time (< 10ms) to secure data communication and reliability.
Power supply plays a key role mass transit system. Advantech’s industrial level supplies not only provide stable and reliable power supply, they also offer modes which highly simplify monitoring for operation and maintenance.
