New PCI Communication Card with Intelligent Processor Available Now

Taipei, Taiwan, July 25, 2006 ¡V Advantech is pleased to announce a new intelligent PCI card, the PCI-1625U 8-port intelligent RS-232 Universal PCI Communication Card. This new RS-232 Universal Card has an onboard DSP processor which can carry signals by itself, reducing host CPU usage. Moreover, the PCI-1625U has a universal PCI connector that is compatible with both newer 3.3V PCI bus and the traditional 5V PCI bus. Even with so many amazing features, Advantech has been able to design this product as a cost-effective unit.

This new intelligent PCI communication card has an embedded DSP processor. This intelligent onboard processor takes a significant load off the host CPU (only 18% CPU usage at 921.6K baud rate), and provides a large onboard buffer for high performance communications (90K byte per second throughput at 921.6K baud rate). With these advantages, users can reduce CPU usage and the occurrence of CPU errors.

To compare the PCI-1625U with other similar products in the market, it provides 1MB SRAM, which is the largest memory size available for this type of module. Within its onboard processor and 1M embedded SRAM, signals and data can be transmitted and saved immediately when passing through the serial ports. Therefore, this unit is capable of high performance processing to meet all speed-demanding and data intensive communication applications.

PCI-1625U is an intelligent RS-232 universal PCI communication card which supports an onboard DSP processor and 1M SRAM reducing the usage of host CPU and lessening the rate of errors occurring on the host computer. Advantech's PCI-1625U is a cost-effective intelligent PCI card solution that is available now; please contact your Advantech sale representative for more information.
