Advantech is pleased to launch the latest extension to its family of PCI communication cards, PCI-1610AUP, a 4-port RS-232 Universal PCI Low Profile communication card.

PCI-1610AUP has the Low Profile PCI MD1 form factor. This means it has the same protocol and electronic definition as standard PCI, but is only 119.91 x 64.41 mm (4.7" x 2.5"). Thus, PCI-1610AUP is suitable for POS (Point-of-Sale), retail, or other applications with space-restrictive enclosures.

With a Universal PCI connector for 3.3 V and 5 V signals, the card can be used in both old and new systems. Configuration is also easy with Plug & Play, and four cards can be used in the same system for communication with up to 16 devices.

PCI-1610AUP and other PCI serial communication cards such as PCI-1602UP, PCI-1604UP and PCI-1610UP are all available for Microsoft® Windows® 98/2000/ME/XP and Linux®, with full driver support. Also, with Advantech's bundled ICOM Tools software, you can test the PCI card's performance by analyzing the port status, and easily configure the settings of the card.

PCI-1610AUP is ready for ordering now, and Advantech is confident that PCI-1610AUP will be as well received as the previous products in the PCI serial Low Profile communication series.
