Advantech to Showcase Telehealth Solutions at ATA 2016

Date: 5/11/2016 12:00:00 AM

Taipei, Taiwan, May 11, 2016– Advantech’s (TWSE: 2395.TW) Digital Healthcare Division, a leading innovator of medical computing platform services and solutions, today announced plans to showcase its latest telehealth solutions at the American Telemedicine Association (ATA) Annual Conference and Trade Show to be held on May 14-17, 2016, in Minneapolis, the United States. Advantech’s next-generation mobile telemedicine solutions and 4K HEVC video encoding technologies will be featured at the Advantech booth.

Mobile Telemedicine Platform

Advantech’s AMiS telemedicine cart is an open platform that can be easily integrated with existing devices and hospital infrastructure. Featuring dual display and multiple video input capabilities, as well as a front-facing camera, AMiS supports virtual applications, such as tele-ICU and teleconsultation, for more comprehensive and patient-centered healthcare delivery.

To ensure safe and reliable operation, Advantech’s AMiS telemedicine cart is certified to strict medical standards and all cables are routed internally for superior infection control and device management. The motorized height adjustment feature increases the convenience of use, and DIN rails support the integration of diverse accessories for intelligent upgrades and customization. The long-lasting LiFePO4 battery delivers stable, high-performance, and cost-efficient power.

Harry Wang, product manager for the AMiS telemedicine cart at Advantech Medical Computing Group said, “Many hospitals are currently integrating telemedicine systems with existing medical carts to serve as mobile telemedicine stations. However, this leads to many challenges related to cable routing, power supply, and application requirements. To address these issues, Advantech developed an open platform aimed at satisfying hospitals’ current and future requirements.”

When integrated with medical devices and connected to the cloud, the AMiS cart acts as a gateway, facilitating various interconnected applications, such as the nursing station dashboard and patient information systems. Medical devices linked to the telemedicine cart can be used to collected patients’ vital sign data, which is then transmitted to the hospital server for storage. Advantech’s Wise-PaaS platform enables hospital IT and healthcare system integrators to easily connect hospital servers with cloud computing platforms. The introduction of telemedicine and IoT analytics solutions equips care givers with real-time decision support, ensuring the delivery of superior quality healthcare.

VEGA Video Solutions

In addition to mobile telemedicine solutions, Advantech will also showcase its latest HEVC video encoder appliances, accelerator cards, and modules designed for virtual healthcare applications. According to Ted Fang, senior manager of Advantech’s video appliance product lines, “Low latency and high resolution are key requirements for critical medical applications such as teleconsultation and surgery demonstrations. Advantech’s VEGA video infrastructure solution supports upto UHD/4K resolutions and is equipped with low-latency and power-saving features, enabling hospitals to provide safer, more cost-efficient healthcare services.”

VEGA-6000 Series comprises compact, low-power video processing devices with diverse interfaces and HEVC encoding functionality. These devices can support 4K/UHD video acquisition over SDI or SDI interfaces by transmitting raw video content over IP or using the latest bandwidth-saving HEVC hardware compression technology. Equipped with bothlow latency and low power consumption, Advantech’s compact video appliances are suitable for limited-space installations, such as in operating theaters and intensive care units.

VEGA-2000 is an HEVC-capable Full HD video streaming solution in a lightweight small form factor. VEGA-2000 connects directly to a video source via SDI or HDMI, allowing live videos to be encoded and transmitted over 3G/4G/LTE/Wi-Fi to hospital servers or uploaded to a server-based cloud environment. This compact yet high-performance video module also supports video streaming for telemedicine and remote monitoring applications.
